Dear International Students,
Welcome to the spring 2013 semester! As you are getting settled into your new classes, there are several extremely important things that we would like to remind you about.
If you will not be registering for classes this semester because you have already completed your program of study, you may disregard this message.
The International Services Office (ISO) must report certain information about your status to the U.S. Federal Government and register you in SEVIS (Student & Exchange Visitor Information System) within the next couple of weeks. To make it possible for us to do so you need to:
If you are unable to comply with the federal requirements listed below you may be in danger of losing your immigration status and your ability to legally remain in the United States to pursue your studies.
To learn more about SEVIS registration please visit the ISO website and read the information provided at http://gwired.gwu.edu/iso/

Class Registration
You must be registered for a full course of study by Sunday, January 27, 2013. If you had to register via paper (RTF) instead of online, please talk with your Academic Advisor and make certain that your registration is finalized in GWeb by Sunday 9/9/2012.
The federal government requirement of a full course of study means that:
- Undergraduate Students must enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours. - Graduate Students must enroll for a minimum of 9 credit hours.
Exceptions to the full-course-of-study requirement are very limited and must be granted by an ISO advisor before you engage in a reduced course load. A student who drops below full time enrollment without prior approval from the ISO will be considered to be out of status.
If the fall semester will be your final term and you have less than the full course of study requirements left to complete your program, you may be eligible to receive permission to engage in a Reduced Course Load (RCL). If you believe you are eligible for a Reduced Course Load for another reason, please contact your ISO Advisor immediately.
The RCL form and application instructions are located on the ISO website at: http://gwired.gwu.edu/iso/
Full Time Certification (FTC) - Graduate Students Only If you are a graduate student, you have completed all required coursework, and you are/will be registered for less than 9 credit hours this fall semester because you will be working on your thesis or dissertation full time, you may be eligible to be granted a full-time certification. If you believe you are eligible for FTC for another reason, please contact your ISO Advisor immediately. The FTC form and application instructions are located on the ISO website at: http://gwired.gwu.edu/iso/
