Nominate for the Excellence in Student Life Awards!

The 28th Annual Excellence in Student Life Awards are an amazing opportunity to give recognition to a student, student organization, faculty or staff member who have made outstanding contributions to the GW community. Nominations for over twenty awards are now open and some awards include monetary rewards and scholarships!

 

Time: Nominations close on Friday, February 22nd at 5:00pm

Justice Week

Justice Week is hosted by GW’s International Justice Mission to raise awareness for the need for justice in the world. Programming will include fundraisers and events co-hosted by STAND, Free Project, Invisible Children, and Amnesty International. Events take place February 4th to February 7th.

12:00pm – 3:00pm Fundraiser each afternoon

7:00pm – 10:00pm Events each evening

GW Pre-Law Student Association General Body Meeting

The first general body meeting is open to all interested in law (international, criminal, business, etc.), law school, internships, and more. You do not have to be a member to attend! The PLSA will speak about their organization, all of the perks that come with membership, and announce some exciting upcoming events.

Tuesday, February 5th

 

Focus on Fall Abroad Community (FOFAC) Info Session

The Focus on Fall Abroad Community is open to GW students who plan to study abroad during the fall semester on any GW-approved program and return to campus the following spring semester. For more info and to find out about applications, attend this info session!

Politics, Science, and the Media: Advancing the public interest or special interests?

Dr. Laura Billings' lecture will discuss the politics of the U.S. space program and the key issues that form the basis of how we understand space exploration. She will address the role of powerful organizations like American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Academy of Sciences and the media's tendency to rely on their expertise. International Affairs Mentoring Fair

Theta Sigma Alpha Information Session

Theta Sigma Alpha is a new Christian-Catholic women’s organization functioning as an alternative Greek sorority. Open to all GW women committed to living their Christian faith, Theta Sig is based on the foundation of sisterhood, traditions, and service through social, spiritual and philanthropic activities.

Jewish Literature Live: Jami Attenberg

Jewish Literature Live is an innovative, hands-on experience where students read and then meet authors and ask them questions about their work. Jami Attenberg, author of The Middlesteins, will discuss his novel.

Mat Kearney

Praised since the release of his 2006 debut album, "Nothing to Lose," Mat Kearney has shared the stage and toured with artists from John Mayer and Sheryl Crow to Keane and The Fray. On his latest album, "Young Love", Kearney’s hip-hop and folk influenced tracks will be handed down for generations to come. Click here for tickets!

Reading Kushner: A Play Workshop Series

The workshop series will explore four Kushner plays with analysis by GW faculty and graduate students. Participants are asked to read the plays in advance. This week’s work is Homebody/Kabul.

Bloomberg Assessment Test

GW Women in Business are hosting the Bloomberg Assessment Test, which is a free test that assesses aptitude in business and finance. All test takers are entered into a database for more than 20,000 firms, who can contact test takers to fill internships and positions.

 

Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm and 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Sunday: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

CASA Lunar New Year Show

Come celebrate the year of the snake at the 13th annual Chinese American Student Association Lunar New Year Show! This is their largest event of the year and one of the biggest cultural shows at GW. There will be dancing and singing performances, skits, raffles, and Chinese food! Tickets are $7 for CASA due-paying members and $10 for non due-paying members.
