Numerous inquiries were
received by the Office of the Provost asking why the fall 2012 semester began on
a Tuesday rather than a Monday. As many people noted, there were several
inconveniences to starting on a Tuesday that could be eliminated by starting the
semester on a Monday.
After consultation with
faculty, students and administrators, I am pleased to inform you that the fall
2013 and fall 2014 academic calendars (http://www.gwu.edu/academic-calendar) have been revised so
that these semesters will begin on Monday, August 26, 2013 and Monday, August
25, 2014, respectively. The specific changes to the calendar for these semesters
