Smithsonian Associates event featuring former secretary of state set for Aug. 4.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell, M.B.A. '71, will speak at Lisner Auditorium on Aug. 4 at an event hosted by the Smithsonian Associates. The retired four-star general, former national security adviser and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff will speak on life and leadership at a discussion facilitated by School of Media and Public Affairs Director Frank Sesno. Gen. Powell served as the country’s first black secretary of state under President George W. Bush from 2001 to 2005. GW community members may purchase tickets for $35 beginning July 8 via the Lisner Auditorium box office. General admission ($45) and Smithsonian Associates members ($35) tickets are available now. Copies of Gen. Powell’s book, “It Worked for Me: In Life and Leadership,” will be available for purchase and signing at the program. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke at Lisner in June. |
