WARNING: An
e-mail phishing scam is currently circulating GW e-mail addresses disguised as
official correspondence from the George Washington University. The subject line
for this message is "Your E-mail Suspension Notification," and the sender
appears to be InfoMail@gwu.edu. The e-mail
asks users to verify their identities by visiting a link that appears to go to
the GW e-mail login page but instead goes to another site. If you have received this e-mail,
please do NOT open or click on the link.
This is a
reminder that you should NEVER reply to e-mail messages asking for personal
information, even if they look legitimate or appear to be security-related. The
university and Division of IT will NEVER send you an e-mail asking you to reply
with any information such as your NetID, password, birth date, Social Security
number or GWid. Additionally, please ensure that your computer is patched with
the most recent operating system updates.
If you have
already responded to a phishing e-mail, have any questions or concerns or want
to validate the source of a message, please contact the Division of Information
Technology at 202-994-GWIT (4948), ithelp@gwu.edu or http://ITsupport.gwu.edu. Technology assistance is available
through the IT Support Center 24 hours a day.
