GWU College of Professional Studies, Center for Excellence in Public Leadership is looking for a Training Program Coordinator who can work 40 hours per week from October, 2016 until August 2017.

The Center for Excellence in Public Leadership (CEPL) at The George Washington University brings 20 years of experience in cutting-edge leadership and management training in the public sector. Working with federal managers, CEPL offers a standardized program that prepares leaders to step into senior executive positions, as well as customized programs to help address specific training needs for a variety of mid-level and executive level positions. In addition, CEPL partners with local and regional governments to offer Certified Public Manager programs that focus on skill development in areas such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and project management.

Duration: 2016-2017 Academic year
Compensation: $13-17 per hour, based on experience. Housing compensation.

Position Description:
The Training Program Coordinator serves an integral role within the Center providing overall office and program support. The Training Program Coordinator will help plan and deliver several yearly leadership conferences as well as provide support to monthly programs. The position requires a mature individual who represents the Center in a positive light, takes initiative to accomplish Center programs and goals, is a good problem solver, and works well under pressure. This position involves opportunities to attend leadership conferences.
The Training Program Coordinator will work particularly closely with the Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP), special cohort for Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).
Specific duties include:
·  Assist in the management of several yearly leadership development programs
·  Assist in academic curriculum design, faculty recruitment and coordination, classroom facilitation, on-going participant support, and budget management.
·  Serve as a liaison between participants, partners, university departments and other stakeholders.
·  Support the GLDP participants to adapt to American academic environment and serve as a liaison between Chinese and American culture.
·  Continuously monitor participants’ performance and provide counselling if necessary.
·  Potentially relocating to an apartment in close proximity with the GLDP participants to develop a closer relationship with the participants. The apartment will be financed by the Center.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • ·         Attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; high efficiency.
  • ·         Ability to interact professionally with clients, participants and stakeholders
  • ·         Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, etc.
  • ·         Proficient in writing, listening, speaking and listening in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Native Mandarin Chinese speaker strongly preferred.
  • ·         Project management experience preferred.
  • ·         Demonstrated leadership skills, punctuality, professionalism
  • ·         Recent GWU graduates from various disciplines who are currently in OPT preferred, but strongly qualified second year master’s degree students might be considered as well.


Attention:
·         GWU does currently not provide H1B sponsorship to non-faculty positions yet.
·         We provide a competitive package that includes full housing subsidy.
·         We are looking for someone who can commit to work with us from October 2016 to August 2017, we only consider people who are eligible to work at least until August 2017.
