Admission Consulting Specialist
CollegeNode is a Washington D.C. based admission consulting firm primarily serving students from China. We take up to 30 clients per year, roughly 20 of which are undergraduate applicants while approximately 10 are graduate applicants. Most of our students are from the Beijing and Shenzhen region.
We are looking for a full-time admissions specialist to join our team in our Washington D.C. office. Primary responsibilities include:
1. Communicate with clients to answer their questions.
2. Guide students through the application process.
3. Work with students on personal statements.
4. Research and write memos on education-related issues.
5. English-Chinese translation between staff members and clients.
6. Update company's social media sites.
Requirements:
1. Ability to speak Chinese on a native level. A portion of the work revolves around communicating with student parents who do not speak English.
2. Ability to speak English well. Portions of our team are not Chinese speakers and the person must be able to communicate effectively with the U.S. portion of the team.
3. Ability to write well in English. Please submit an English writing sample as a part of your application.
4. Responsible and have the ability to work under pressure. Admissions consulting can be very demanding during the application seasons. Students and parents can be under a lot of stress.
5. Prefer students with a background in education, humanities, and social sciences. Prefer students with 1-2 years of full time work or internship experience. Some of our clients begin consulting with us in the 9th grade, so we are looking for someone who is really passionate about this sector and can stay with the company for a long period of time.
Pay and Perks:
1. $44,000 per year with standard benefits.
2. Ability to sponsor for H1B visa.
3. Travel to Panama or Africa for three weeks with our student summer program.
