GWU College of Professional Studies, Center for Excellence in Public Leadership is looking for a Training Program Coordinator starting in May 2017.

The Center for Excellence in Public Leadership (CEPL) at The George Washington University brings 20 years of experience in cutting-edge leadership and management training in the public sector. Working with federal and international managers, CEPL offers a standardized program that prepares leaders to step into senior executive positions, as well as customized programs to help address specific training needs for a variety of mid-level and executive level positions. In addition, CEPL partners with local and regional governments to offer Certified Public Manager programs that focus on skill development in areas such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and project management.

Desired Start Date: May 2017
Approximate hours per week: 40 hours in the summer, 20 hours during Fall and Spring Semesters
Compensation: $13-17 per hour, based on experience.

Position Description:
The Training Program Coordinator serves an integral role within the Center providing overall office and program support. The Training Program Coordinator will help plan and deliver several yearly leadership conferences as well as provide support to weekly programs. The position requires a mature individual who represents the Center in a positive light, takes initiative to accomplish the Center’s goals, is a good problem solver, and works well under pressure. The Training Program Coordinator will work particularly closely with the Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP), special cohort for People’s Insurance Corporation of China (PICC).

Duties include:
•        Assist in the management of yearly leadership development programs;
•        Assist in academic curriculum design, faculty recruitment and coordination, classroom facilitation, on-going participant support, and budget management;
•        Serve as a liaison between participants, partners, university departments and other stakeholders;
•        Support the GLDP participants to adapt to American academic environment and serve as a liaison between Chinese and American culture;
•        Continuously monitor participants’ performance and provide counselling if necessary.

Desired Skills and Experience:
•        Proficient in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Native Mandarin Chinese speaker strongly preferred;
•        Attention to detail; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously; high efficiency;
•        Ability to interact professionally with clients, participants and stakeholders;
•        Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, etc;
•        Project management experience preferred;
•        Demonstrated leadership skills, punctuality, professionalism;
•        Current GWU students preferred.
