We are looking for a warm, energetic babysitter to take care of our two-year-old son Jack for about 20-25 hours per week in NW DC. We are ideally looking for someone who is a native Mandarin speaker and also a U.S. citizen (the Mom speaks some Mandarin). However, we are open to anyone who can work legally. You have the option to live for free in our fully detached basement (not connected to the main house) with a kitchen, washer/dryer, bathroom, and two bedrooms. The pay will be very competitive but will depend on whether you are living with us or not (it will be much higher if you are not, obviously). The hours will be predictable and can generally be worked around a class schedule. However, for roughly 3 days every 2 weeks, you will need to be fully on call and in charge of caregiving because the Mom will be on work travel. The work travel is known far in advance and thus can be organized to avoid conflicts with, for example, exams. Jack will be in preschool from 9-4, but on days when Mom is away you would need to care for Jack if he is sick or the school shuts down for some reason. You must have a driver's license, though the house is walking distance from the yellow/green Metro so you do not need your own car. Undergrad students are accepted, though grad students might be preferred. The starting date is somewhat flexible but is around June 1. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Sabrina Howell at howell.sabrina@gmail.com.
