Avoiding Top Mistakes Chinese Students and Young Professionals Make in the U.S.

What do you want to get out of your U.S. education and experience?  Do you wish to find an internship in the U.S.? Do you wish to find a job after graduation, and maybe even to establish a life here afterwards?  Do you also wish to build new friendships and connections and feel at home?

According to the study by EIC, China’s largest overseas study service agency, one in four Chinese students attending Ivy League universities in the U.S. drop out.  Of those who did graduate, half returned to China to find jobs.  In total, about 70% of Chinese university graduates returned to China to look for jobs.

What are the reasons qualified Chinese students and graduates fail to realize their “American dream”?  What are the top mistakes people make?  Where are the gaps between the skills Chinese graduates possess and what the employers look for?  And, what can you do to avoid these mistakes, starting today?

In this one-hour workshop, international business consultant and career coach, Joy Huang, will help the participants to learn from the top mistakes Chinese students and young professionals make in the U.S.  Based on her 18 years of experience in the U.S. working and consulting for mid to large size U.S. and multinational companies, Joy will highlight the biggest issues confronting aspiring Chinese young professionals.  Highlighted issues include:

·      Not doing enough for career planning

·      Underestimating the job search process

·      Overlooking the importance of communication and social skills

·      Lack of cultural integration

·      Prioritizing coursework over networking

Joy will share examples, data and provide some tips how to avoid these mistakes.   This is valuable information for anyone who is interested in establishing a career and life in the U.S.

The workshop will be limited to 50 people and registration will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
