求waive学校保险，求alternative solution~

Dear George Washington University Students:

The George Washington University is pleased to offer the Student Health Insurance Plan through Aetna Student Health. For 2012-2013, this plan is voluntary for most students, and mandatory for all Medical, Nursing, Health Science, and International students holding F1 or J1 visas, with a hard waiver option.*

You may enroll online by visiting the Aetna Student Health website.

FALL ENROLLMENT DEADLINE IS SEPTEMBER 30, 2012

On the Aetna Student Health website you may view and download the Student Health Insurance Plan brochure. Brochures and enrollment forms are also available by calling the Aetna Student Health Customer Service Department at 1-800-213-0579.

Plan Highlights:

• Aggregate maximum $2 million per condition, per policy year
• Prescription coverage $100,000 after $100 deductible
• Preventative services covered at 100% (at preferred providers)
• Contraception covered 100% (at preferred providers)
• Coverage is comprehensive - national network of providers and Global Emergency Medical Assistance
• Most services at GW Student Health Service and University Counseling Center are covered at 100%
• Optional Dental coverage
  

* IMPORTANT: ALL Medical, Nursing, Health Science, and International Students holding a J1 or F1 visa are required to carry insurance beginning in the Fall 2012. The students listed above will automatically be enrolled in the Aetna Student Health Insurance Plan. To opt out, please visit theAetna's medical plan waiver site. The waiver will be available until September 30, 2012.

是啊，我还在困惑呢，难道一定要交学校的强制保险。。？

看来是强制了

If you have health insurance coverage offered by the following:

   1. A scholarship or government sponsored program that provides you with health insurance. (National health coverage and/or travel insurance do not meet these criteria.); OR
   2. If you, your spouse or parent, has a United States employer who provides you with health insurance.

You may request an exemption from the GW Student Health Insurance Plan.

这笔钱今年很难省了啊。。。学校穷疯了

我前两天搜的时候就发觉几乎没人有辣个pre existing condition的条款！被这一条给憋死！

其实我想说, 真的不需要WAIVE掉学校提供的保险. 因为学校的保险真的是最好的, 比外面COVER很多东西, 而且价格差不多. 我想大家都知道在美国生病了看病特别贵, 有个保险真的方便很多. 毕竟不怕一万只怕万一. 这个钱还是别省的好~ 在其他方面省吧~

你说价格差不多是和哪里比？学校的保险一年2200，ISO的保险25岁以下一年880，差了一位数了，而且大多数同学来美两年生病都是自己吃药，没有几个去看医生的，根本不交钱给医院，两年下来支出差别换算成人民币就上万了。所以waive不waive还是应该看自己情况，有个头疼脑热就喜欢去医院检查的买学校的保险可以，想省钱的在外面买个便宜的保险以防万一也是个选择

厄~ 这不各抒己见嘛~ 买不买本来就在个人, 多方面给些意见不就提供给大家考虑吗?
