A small civil litigation law firm headquartered in D.C. with satellite office in VA is seeking replacement to join existing team, position available immediately.
Attn. NY Bar applicants:
1. 50hrs pro bono certificate is required for bar admission.
2. NY bar admission requires skills certification.
3. NY bar require Form Affidavit of your Good Moral Character.
Law firm offers:
1. Pro bono certificate, apprentice certificate, good moral character certificate for successful interns and new JDs.
2. Law firm provide supervisor attorney certificate for 50hr pro bono certificate if you successfully completed 3 months part time non-paid internship for at least 30hrs/wk.
3. 6M apprenticeship bar admission requirement: law firm offer non-paid 6M full time apprentice program or 12M part time program for apprentice certificate by supervisory attorney.
4. Law firm provide supervisory attorney certificate for Good Moral Character for satisfied interns and new JDs after complete one year for bar admission application.
Legal research assistant:
One legal research assistant position available--must completed JD and already took UBE and NYLE for NY bar.
Pending MSPR exams. Pay rate: $12.50/hr. 20-40hrs/wk. JD prior to took UBE and NYLE non-paid internship only.
JDs seeking pro bono certificate and apprentice certificate non paid only.
JD past UBE, NYLE and MSPR pay $12.5-15/hr. depends on experience.
Interns:
This is non paid internship position for JD student in training. Prefer 2L and 3L. Exceptional 1L will be considered as well.
Work hrs required: 20-45/hr./wk. work in home office setting. No LLMs and LLMs past bar w/o license non-paid internship only.
Duties:
1. Conduct internet research using Lexis and West Law, new interns get hands on training for legal research, case study, prepare case summary and some basic administrative work.
2. Experienced interns will be trained for writing MEMOs and form legal arguments. Exposed to litigations writing (motion to dismiss, response to motion, discovery, response to discovery, motion for summary judgment, depositions etc.), support hearings and trials.
3. Legal research assistant will be trained for writing briefs and support litigation cases.
Successful assistant will be offered associate attorney position after bar license and after complete one year full time on the job training.
Offer H1B after 1yr. full time on the job training and successful and after obtain bar license to both interns and legal research assistants.
Qualifications/Requirements:
a. J.D. must be top 30 U.S. law schools.
c. Must have completed Civil Procedure, Evidence, Discovery courses and min. B+ grades.
Current Cases Load and Litigation Courts in:
a. Post-merger shareholder rights dispute litigation in CA Fed. District Court, EDCA.
b. Breach of contract law case litigation in Fed. District Court in CA, EDCA.
c. Products liability litigation in NY Fed. District Court.
d. ERISA disability insurance law litigation in NY Fed. District Court.
e. Legal malpractice litigation in NY Fed. District Court.
Job Requirement:
1. Excellent in legal writing, legal research, proficient in Lexis and Westlaw.
2. Must have experience and certificate of using Westlaw, LexisNexis.
3. New graduates or students must have taken Evidence, Civil Procedure, prefer also have Pre-trial litigation and E-Discovery related classes.
4. Organized, Detail-Oriented, Highly Motivated, Able to work on their own with minimal supervision.
