Many of the most innovative and fastest growing businesses in the US have been founded by foreign nationals working or studying in the US. The GW Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the GW International Services Organization, with support from the GW School of Business and GW alumnus Brian Herrman, will host a clinic to connect GW’s international student entrepreneurs with attorneys who can give some initial guidance on navigating the US immigration system. This clinic will discuss the immigration options available to GW international students as they pursue their entrepreneurial dreams through creating a business or start up.
This clinic will have two components
- An overview presentation of the immigration options for international student entrepreneurs and
- One-on-one consultations with greater DC area immigration attorneys.
Our speaker will discuss OPT/CPT, H-1B visas, O-1 visas, the E-1 and E-2 Treaty visa status, EB-5 Investor Visa Program, as well as some of the proposed legislative changes to the immigration laws that might benefit investors and entrepreneurs.
Students will then be able to meet for one 20 minute session with an attorney to discuss specific issues.
